Mark World Orangutan Day with an animal-themed play session. Young children can learn about orangutans, build a habitat for orangutan and other primate toys, and create an orangutan with long arms designed for climbing and hanging.

The drop-in Play Date at NMNH series is developed for early learners, caregivers, and families, though all ages are welcome. Capacity varies by gallery; if the activity is full when you arrive, families may visit other exhibits and return later during the session.

The program is in the first-floor Kenneth E. Behring Family Hall of Mammals and is wheelchair accessible. ASL interpretation, CART captioning, and audio description can be requested in advance, preferably at least two weeks before the event.
