Celebrate World Elephant Day through play and close observation. Young children can examine different elephant teeth, build habitats for toy elephants, and create artwork depicting an elephant herd.

The drop-in Play Date at NMNH series is designed for early learners, caregivers, and families. Activities are developed with young children in mind, though the museum welcomes all ages. Space varies by gallery and the program may be at capacity on arrival; families can explore other exhibits and try again later.

The session is in the first-floor Kenneth E. Behring Family Hall of Mammals and is wheelchair accessible. ASL interpretation, CART captioning, and audio description can be requested in advance, preferably at least two weeks before the program.
