Families can bring a treasured object for a one-on-one review with preservation specialists and learn practical ways to care for personal collections. Photographs, documents, textiles, quilts, books, collectibles, and objects connected with HBCU history, traditions, athletics, student life, or community legacy are especially welcome.

Participants receive a Treasures Starter Kit and sample archival materials to begin preserving family history at home. The program is inspired by the exhibition At the Vanguard: Making and Saving History at Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
