Building Readers Club at THE PLAYGROUND

A family day connecting children’s books with architecture, engineering, construction, and design. Local authors Shadra Strickland and Joy Jones lead storytimes and presentations; DC Retro Jumpers hosts double-dutch activities, and DC Way offers soccer clinics.

Admission to the program, THE PLAYGROUND, and all Museum exhibitions—including Building Stories—is free. Families may continue exploring THE PLAYGROUND during the half-hour entry period nearest the program’s conclusion.

Check-in and installation rules

Check in at the Building Readers Club table in the Great Hall. A caregiver must complete a liability waiver during registration or onsite. Strollers, food, and drinks are not allowed inside THE PLAYGROUND; stroller parking is available. This occurrence is currently sold out.
