Place and Space

This week considers how the places where people live help shape their identities. Families can fold origami, build a cardboard community, create a paper escape land, and listen to stories from Sheila Arnold. Animals from the Virginia Zoo and representatives from Wetlands Watch join the program for nature-focused encounters.

The larger Wonder Wednesday experience includes hands-on artmaking, multisensory exploration, imaginative play, and a live performance. Activities are designed for varied learning styles and abilities, with a separate area specifically for children younger than four.

Registration is not required. Free onsite parking is available, and the museum offers complimentary strollers, wheelchairs, and sensory-friendly bags.
