Tucson Tavern Series: Brandon Varela on the Yaqui Deer Dance

Brandon Varela, director of the Old Pascua Museum and Yaqui Cultural Center, discusses the history and traditions of the Yaqui (Yoeme) Deer Dance. The format combines a short presentation with ample time for questions and discussion.

Attendance is capped at 20 people, and advance registration is required. The Brandylion will sell specialty cocktails as well as flavored iced tea, limeade, lemonade and cream sodas. Because this is a small evening lecture rather than a children’s program, it is most suitable for attentive older children interested in cultural history.
