Campers entering grades 1–2 explore the zoo through their five senses while learning how animals use sensory adaptations to survive. The five-day program includes animal-ambassador encounters, games, hands-on activities, guided tours, and selected behind-the-scenes experiences.

Campers spend roughly half their time on zoo grounds and half in air-conditioned classrooms. This age group is limited to 15 campers with two or three adult instructors and one or two approved volunteers; children remain supervised throughout the program. Animal ambassadors may be touched under staff direction but cannot be held, and other close-up experiences can change according to animal-care and safety needs.
