This three-day camp for students entering grades 6–8 explores the One Health principle: the health of people, animals, and the environment is interconnected. Campers investigate actions that can support a healthier planet through animal-ambassador encounters, hands-on activities, and behind-the-scenes experiences.

The group is limited to 20 campers with two or three adult instructors and one or two approved adult volunteers. Campers remain supervised throughout the program and divide their time between zoo grounds and air-conditioned classrooms. Close animal experiences depend on animal-care and group-safety needs.

Parent notes

  • This session is sold out, and advance registration was required.
  • Campers must be entering sixth, seventh, or eighth grade in fall 2026.
  • Families should provide two snacks. A packed lunch is recommended, or lunch may be ordered from the zoo café.
  • Sensory kits are available; call 520-837-8200 to discuss a camper’s support needs.
  • The curriculum repeats, so each camper may attend only one session. See the 2026 camp FAQ for policies and additional details.
