El Presidio
This after-hours museum program brings families into selected galleries for art, performances, and conversations about place, tradition, representation, and community. Gallery exploration begins at 5 p.m.; participants joining the guided portion should check in with museum staff in Mooney Hall.
Evening schedule
- 5:30–6 p.m.: A semi-guided “Poetry and the Everyday” conversation in Another Frame: Lola Álvarez Bravo, Mariana Yampolsky, Graciela Iturbide, Flor Garduño.
- 6–6:30 p.m.: A gallery sound performance by Arizona Biennial 2026 artist Karima Walker.
- 7–8 p.m.: An open mic curated by sam bloom in the Mary Jo Brown Gallery, exploring connections between mythology and reality, heritage and modernity, past and present, and observation and imagination. Families may stop in and listen while visiting the galleries.
Mooney Hall will have complimentary snacks and a cash bar serving beer and wine. Advance tickets are available through the museum’s authorized ticketing page.
Accessibility and arrival
The museum provides accessible galleries, restrooms, elevators, café, store, and parking. The fully accessible entrance is at 200 W. Alameda Street; the Main Avenue Museum Store entrance is not wheelchair accessible. Accessible spaces are available first-come, first-served in the free lot off Washington Street.
