This free anniversary gathering recognizes Tucson’s formal founding on August 20, 1775 while celebrating the Indigenous and regional cultures that long predate it. The name Tucson derives from the O’odham phrase s-cuk ṣon, meaning “at the base of the black hill.”
The evening takes place in the Presidio Museum’s Territorial Patio and includes a pop-up-exhibit reception followed by live music. An optional RSVP helps organizers plan.
