Downtown Tampa
Henry Bradley Plant steps out of history in this single-character performance set around 1899. The museum’s founder reflects on his rise as a self-made industrialist, the construction of the Tampa Bay Hotel, and the railroad, steamship, and hotel network that helped reshape Tampa. The character also shares something of the personal discipline behind his business empire.
The museum developed the portrayal from original historical research. The performance lasts 30 minutes and is included with admission. Because seating is limited and distributed first come, first served, families should arrive early.
Planning your visit
The museum does not permit strollers, food, beverages, or large bags and backpacks. Expect authentic, comparatively dim period lighting and soft classical music. Performance transcripts for visitors who are hard of hearing require two weeks’ advance notice. Accessible ramps and restrooms, designated parking, and a free first-come wheelchair are available. Additional free parking is located in the Thomas Parking Garage, about a five-minute walk through campus.
