Meet Arthur Schleman, the Tampa Bay Hotel’s hunting and fishing guide in 1895, through a single-character living-history performance. Actor Dan Khoury presents Arthur as a confident storyteller familiar with trapping, horseback hunting, poetry, and the era’s emerging “motorcars”—and as a man with strong opinions on nearly everything.
The character is grounded in the museum’s historical research, giving families a personal window into work, recreation, and social ambition at the turn-of-the-century hotel. The 30-minute performance is included with museum admission. Seating is limited and first come, first served; arriving early is recommended.
Planning your visit
Strollers, food, beverages, and large bags or backpacks are not allowed in the museum. Families should expect historically authentic, somewhat dim lighting and soft classical music. Performance transcripts for guests who are hard of hearing require two weeks’ advance notice. The museum provides accessible ramps and restrooms, designated accessible parking, and one complimentary first-come wheelchair. Free overflow parking is available in the Thomas Parking Garage, approximately a five-minute walk across campus.
