Children practice reading in a calm, encouraging setting while sharing stories with homeless pets. The shelter supplies reading stools, animal-themed and empathy-building books, and treats for the animals; children may bring a favorite book instead.
The free program is designed for readers age 5 and older. A parent or caregiver must accompany participating children, and one adult may register up to three children. Sessions take place in the main shelter building’s second-floor mezzanine. This session is currently at capacity.
