Conservation Connections: World Elephant Day 2026

Meet ZooTampa’s Education team at the elephant habitat in Africa to learn about the world’s largest land mammal. Interactive activities challenge children to consider how people can protect the habitats and natural resources elephants and other wildlife need to survive.

Conservation Connections

This monthly kids’ program combines a changing theme, an activity at the zoo, a conservation message, and a suggested project families can try at home. Activities may include a scavenger hunt, exploration around the zoo, or a hands-on Education-team table.

Children may bring a ZT Saves Kids’ Club Notebook or Stamp Passport to collect the month’s stamp; both are also sold in zoo gift shops. Families can use the notebook for clues, observations, and at-home conservation activities. At year’s end, collections of at least 4, 8, or all 12 stamps qualify for progressively different small prizes.

Families can also download ZooTampa’s Flora the Explorer puppet sheet, assemble the puppet, and include Flora in their conservation adventures.
