Conservation Connections: American Zoo Day 2026

Celebrate American Zoo Day with ZooTampa’s Education team in Manatee Circle. Interactive activities introduce children to zoos around the country, explain how a zoo visit supports wildlife conservation, and offer practical ideas for protecting animals and wild places.

Conservation Connections

This monthly kids’ program combines a changing theme, an activity at the zoo, a conservation message, and a suggested project families can try at home. Zoo activities may take the form of a scavenger hunt, guided exploration, or an Education-team activity table.

Children may bring a ZT Saves Kids’ Club Notebook or Stamp Passport to collect the month’s stamp; both are also sold in zoo gift shops. Families can use the notebook for clues, observations, and at-home conservation activities. At year’s end, collections of at least 4, 8, or all 12 stamps qualify for progressively different small prizes.

Families can also download ZooTampa’s Flora the Explorer puppet sheet, assemble the puppet, and include Flora in their conservation adventures.
