Families can explore the Mississippi River through storytelling, movement, history, crafts, games, and sensory play. Andi Gaither’s Kids Can Be Water Protectors program introduces Indigenous names for animals, preserved furs, water stewardship, and songs. Children can also try river-themed yoga, play land-and-water tag, and watch short living-history performances about James Eads and his bridge.

All-day activities include river-animal puppets and steamboat coloring, water-and-sand sensory bins, and activity tables about riverfront tools and trade, Cahokia and the Mound Builders, the Saint Louis Zoo, and the Audubon Center at Riverlands. Outdoor activities move inside if it rains.
