Watch the 1965 movie musical The Sound of Music in full-screen Technicolor with lyrics displayed onscreen so the audience can sing along. Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer star in the Academy Award-winning story of the Trapp Family Singers, featuring Rodgers and Hammerstein favorites such as “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Edelweiss,” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.” Kevin McBeth hosts; the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra does not perform during this presentation.
Before the screening, guests can test their movie knowledge and learn how to use the interactive surprises provided in a complimentary tote bag. Costumed guests may also enter the pre-show contest: contestants should line up beside the stage on the orchestra floor beginning at 6:15 p.m., with judging starting at 6:25 p.m. Costumes must comply with the venue’s community standards.
Planning your visit

- Special-event doors generally open 60 minutes before the program, and the venue recommends arriving at least 30 minutes early. Latecomers and guests returning after stepping out are seated at a suitable break.
- Review the official parking and transit information for prepaid lots, accessible parking, rideshare locations, Metro routes, and bicycle racks.
- Powell Hall offers wheelchair seating, elevators, assistive-listening devices, sensory accommodations, and a viewing room. Some interpretive services require two weeks’ notice; see the accessibility guide for arrangements.
