Disney’s Newsies

CMT Rising Stars stages the musical inspired by the 1899 New York newsboys’ strike. Young newspaper seller Jack Kelly rallies his fellow newsies when powerful publishers raise distribution prices at their expense. The family-oriented production combines a story about solidarity and standing up for what is right with Alan Menken and Jack Feldman’s score, including “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe.” Local performers ages 10–14 make up the cast; this performance features the Queens Cast.

The approximate running time is 2 hours 15 minutes, including one 15-minute intermission. Child tickets are offered for ages 12 and younger. Mandatory preservation, facility, and ticket-handling fees are included in the displayed ticket prices and cannot be waived; group rates are available through the box office.
