Families can drop in for an experimental painting project created with the San Francisco Public Library and SCRAP. Inspired by Summer Stride artist, author, and illustrator Nidhi Chanani, the activity invites children to slow down, observe carefully, and explore how a picture develops over time.
Special schedule
- Art-making is available throughout the drop-in window.
- SFPL will read Chanani’s Quiet Karima, a story about finding your voice, at 11 a.m.
Chanani’s work includes the graphic novels Pashmina and Jukebox, the Shark Princess and Super Boba Café series, and several picture books. The program connects with SFPL’s Summer Stride initiative, which encourages reading, learning, and exploration for people of all ages and abilities.
All activities in the Koret Education Center are free and accessible without museum admission. Families who also want to visit the galleries may buy museum tickets separately; admission is always free for visitors 18 and younger.
