Balboa Park
Explore working greenhouses, meet the Zoo’s horticulture staff, and learn about its living plant collections. Orchid Odyssey runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Orchid Greenhouse, located between map points 9 and 10. The Carnivorous Plant Greenhouse, across the bus road from the lions between points 18 and 19, is open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; staff members are available to answer plant questions.

- Botanical bus tours depart at 11 a.m. and noon. Seats require a complimentary same-day reservation from the Tours & Membership booth.
- A plant sale runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. outside the Orchid Greenhouse, featuring plants propagated by Zoo horticulture staff.
- Families can continue independently with the Zoo’s downloadable garden and collection tour brochures.
The activities are included with Zoo admission, although plants cost extra. Parking is $16 per vehicle, and portions of the Zoo have steep grades; accessible routes and an on-call ADA shuttle are available.
