Balboa Park
Nighttime Zoo fills the late afternoon and evening with family entertainment throughout the grounds. The program includes live rock and pop music, interactive dance parties, brass performances, wildlife-themed characters and puppets, a cappella singing, acoustic music, trampoline artists, Tanzanian acrobatics, East African drumming and dance, and the 7:45 p.m. Jambo Dunia! finale.
Family highlights
- Dr. Zoolittle leads an interactive exploration of nature, wildlife behavior, and conservation.
- Children can meet costumed characters, dance with energetic hosts, and watch short acrobatic shows.
- Entertainment is distributed among Front Street, Wildlife Explorers Basecamp, Outback, Urban Jungle, and Africa Rocks.
- Seasonal drinks, meals, and desserts are sold at several Zoo restaurants and stands.
Regular Zoo admission is required. Parking is $16 per automobile or motorcycle, subject to availability; members may register for complimentary parking. The grounds include steep grades, but accessible routes, restrooms, an accessibility map, and an on-call ADA shuttle are available.
