Drop in for a free, 15-minute talk with a State Park interpreter about San Diego County’s connection to Gold Rush history. The featured story follows Fred Coleman, whose small discovery helped spark mining camps that eventually developed into the town of Julian.
Hidden History Talks highlight people and events that have often received less attention in conventional histories, including stories connected with African American, LGBTQ+, and women’s history in San Diego. This installment welcomes all ages, though its short lecture format is best suited to school-age children.
