This free indoor-outdoor community festival celebrates the traditions of cowboys, cowgirls and vaqueros across the museum and McNutt Sculpture Garden. Families can explore live demonstrations, music, storytelling, history and hands-on activities, with museum admission included.
Activities
- Stick ponies, barrel racing, horseshoe toss, a children’s lasso-and-bull-riding corral and games
- Make-and-take projects including foil “silversmith” etching, vaquero hats and spurs, braiding and accordion longhorns
- Engraving, rawhide braiding, sculpture and painting demonstrations
- Chuckwagon experiences, San Antonio Rodeo activities, cowboy poetry, story time and food trucks
Performance schedule
- Danzavida de San Antonio: 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
- Cowboy poetry with Don Mathis: 12:30 p.m.
- Mary Fields story times with Antoinette Lakey: 1:30 and 2 p.m.
- Cowboy ballads with Sons of San Antone: 2:30–4 p.m.
