This free First Sunday program combines a hands-on art project, a short documentary, and a community conversation. Presented with the H. E. Butt Foundation’s Know Your Neighbor program, The Walkout examines the 1968 student protest at Edgewood High School on San Antonio’s West Side and introduces an important, sometimes overlooked chapter of Texas history.

Schedule

  • 1–2 p.m.: Create block-printed protest signs during the art activity.
  • 2–2:30 p.m.: Screening of The Walkout.
  • 2:30–3 p.m.: Panel discussion featuring some of the people portrayed in the film.

Registration is available through the museum’s ticketing partner, and all published ticket categories are free.
