Unearth a Story: Clay Pots

Families can explore pottery traditions and make a clay vessel at this free library workshop. Museum educators will introduce earthenware from American Indian, African, and Mexican cultures, highlighting the many ways people have shaped clay across the UMFA's global collection.

Children can then experiment with coil, slab, and pinch-pot techniques to construct a pot of their own. The program takes place in the Children’s Library and is specifically intended for families with children; unaccompanied adults are directed to the museum’s other public workshops.
