Explore native plants through the language, traditions, and knowledge of the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation. Rios Pacheco, who is Northwest Shoshone/Kewa Pueblo, leads this monthly walk and discusses subjects such as plants used for food and medicine, materials used to build shelters, and Shoshone migration routes connecting mountain and wetland gathering areas.

The program is presented as a three-part experience, with different topics covered across the series. Participants meet at the Tracy Aviary Gift Shop, and the walk is included with regular Aviary admission.

Accessibility

Strollers and common mobility devices are welcome throughout public areas. A limited number of manual wheelchairs and sensory backpacks are available from the Gift Shop; see the Aviary’s accessibility information for additional services and service-animal guidance.
