Take a vintage train on a roughly 45-minute, six-mile round trip from the Old Sacramento Waterfront along the Sacramento River. The experience introduces families to historic rail travel and California and Western railroad history. Departures are scheduled for 11:15 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2:15 p.m.

Coach and first-class tickets are offered. First-class service lasts about 50 minutes and includes air-conditioned seating, a snack, and a nonalcoholic drink; the railroad selects which historic first-class car will operate. Because the coaches have narrow stairs and aisles, riders must be able to climb aboard, and wheelchairs, mobility devices, and strollers must be stored temporarily at the station. Only bottled water and first-class refreshments are permitted aboard.
