Celebrate the Library of Virginia’s Making History crowdsourcing program with a community transcribe-a-thon. New volunteers receive training in how to turn handwritten historical records into searchable digital text, while guest speakers and archivists offer additional presentations.

Lunch and birthday cake are included as part of the annual gathering. The volunteer opportunity is suitable for a 12-year-old accompanied by an adult; participants may volunteer independently beginning at age 16.

The event is free, but registration is required through the volunteer portal, which requires an account. Limited free parking is available in the deck beneath the Library. Questions may be directed to makinghistory@lva.virginia.gov or 804-330-7400.
