This family-friendly VA250 program explores the lives and legacies of Maggie L. Walker and John Mitchell Jr., two influential Virginia leaders of the post-Reconstruction era. Documentaries, live theatrical performances, reenactments, and historical discussion will examine their impact on journalism, civil rights, and community leadership.
A reception follows with light refreshments and educational activities that families can take home. Program partners include Firehouse Theatre, Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site, and John Mitchell.
