Paleobotanist Dr. Carole Gee explores what scientists mean by a “living fossil.” The public presentation considers how researchers distinguish living plants and animals from lookalikes in the fossil record, and whether these species are primitive forms or distinctive examples of evolutionary heritage.
The program is presented with the North Carolina Fossil Club as part of its public meeting.
