Historian Megan L. Cherry leads a museum talk about several lesser-known people from Revolutionary-era America. Their stories provide a lens for exploring how sexuality and gender were debated and contested alongside the struggle for independence.

Cherry is an associate professor at North Carolina State University whose scholarship focuses on 17th- and 18th-century North American history. Families should expect a history-focused presentation rather than a hands-on children’s program, making it best suited to curious older children. The museum notes that parking is free for two hours in City parking decks; see the City of Raleigh’s downtown parking locations and maps.
