Learn to Ride a Bike

Children learn the foundational balance skills needed to ride without training wheels in a safe, supportive program led with Oaks and Spokes. A balance bike and helmet are provided for each participant. Families may instead bring a child’s own bike and helmet; an on-site mechanic can temporarily remove the pedals and training wheels and reinstall them after class.

The program takes place behind Slide Valley on Biggs Drive. Parking, restrooms, water fountains and accessible playground facilities are nearby. Raleigh Parks Inclusion Services can help arrange participation modifications for children with disabilities.

The class is free through support from Dix Park Conservancy donors. Space is limited, registration is required and sign-ups open two weeks before the session at noon.
