Black Boys Code: Discovering Artificial Intelligence

Black Boys Code launches its Raleigh–Durham chapter with a hands-on introduction to artificial intelligence for boys ages 8–17. Beginners explore computer vision by training an image-recognition model with Google’s Teachable Machine, while the advanced track examines chatbots, natural-language processing and guided prompt exercises.

Students also discuss real-world uses of AI in voice assistants, smart devices, autonomous vehicles, healthcare and education, including the technology’s strengths and limitations. Participants should bring a laptop or tablet, preferably with a webcam; workshop materials are supplied. Admission is free, but registration is required and space is limited.
