Saturday, August 29 Full WaterFire Lighting

This full lighting brings WaterFire’s bonfires, music, fire-tending boats, and onshore activity to the downtown Providence rivers. Vendors and programming open before the fires are lit at sunset, approximately 7:23 p.m., and the installation continues until midnight.

WaterFire’s interactive event map marks viewing locations, restrooms, parking and transportation points, and accessibility features throughout the walkable event area.

Accessibility and family logistics

Most riverwalks are accessible, but some sections contain cobblestones or can be reached from only one direction. The largest crowds generally gather from sunset until about 10 p.m., which can make navigation difficult for strollers, young children, and visitors with limited mobility. Arriving roughly 40 minutes before sunset is recommended for an accessible viewing position. Eligible visitors may reserve a complimentary WaterFire Access boat ride at least two weeks in advance; each passenger may bring one companion.
