Friday, August 14 Basin Lighting

WaterFire presents a basin lighting at Waterplace Park. Onshore programming and vendors open ahead of the approximately 7:46 p.m. sunset, when the basin braziers are scheduled to be lit.

The evening pairs firelight on the river with music, boats, and activity along the downtown walkways. Families can use WaterFire’s interactive event map to locate viewing areas, restrooms, transportation points, and marked accessibility locations.

Planning with children

Most riverwalk routes are accessible, but darkness, crowds, cobblestones, open flames, and narrow passages can complicate stroller or wheelchair travel. WaterFire recommends arriving early for a viewing spot; its onshore accessibility guide identifies smoother routes and accessible overlooks. Folding chairs are not allowed on the riverwalks, and comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.
