Slow down and practice beginner-friendly mindful birding on an evening walk at Powell Butte. A mental-health therapist will introduce present-moment awareness through sight, sound, touch, smell and body awareness, using birds and the landscape as guides. This is educational programming rather than psychotherapy or medical care.

Trail and access

  • Up to 2.5 miles at a slow pace
  • Mostly wide, hard-packed dirt or gravel, with occasional narrow or rocky stretches and elevation changes
  • Primarily full sun, with one stone-bench rest stop
  • Vault toilets and parking below the visitor center

Binoculars are available, and no birding or mindfulness experience is needed. The program is currently full; consult the official page for any wait-list opportunity.
