This documentary examines everyday life in Italy’s Abruzzo region during its nine-month German occupation in World War II. Previously unpublished interviews and photographs support firsthand accounts from survivors who experienced the occupation as children, emphasizing resilience, courage, and survival through a difficult period of wartime history.

After the screening, director Dr. Steve Mancini will discuss the film with Melissa E. Marinaro, director of the museum’s Italian American Program. Mancini is an assistant professor at Robert Morris University and serves as Pittsburgh’s honorary consul of Italy.

Admission is free, but advance online registration is required. Because the film addresses occupation and war through survivors’ memories, it is best suited to older school-age children who are comfortable with serious historical subjects.
