The first meeting of a three-part course examining the histories, cultures, traditions and artistic achievements of Native peoples across the Southwest. Senior docent Jeff Ross introduces the region’s land, culture and ancient peoples; discusses O’odham, Maricopa and Yaqui communities; and introduces the museum’s Away From Home: American Indian Boarding School Stories exhibition.
Each meeting concludes with a 30- to 40-minute docent-guided visit to museum exhibitions and sculpture. Registration covers all three Wednesday sessions and is limited to 65 participants.
