Encanto
An evening of PBS KIDS films, art activities and live carving celebrates Molly of Denali. Families can come and go among the screenings, explore the museum and make crafts inspired by Alaska’s characters and landscapes. Tlingit artist James Johnson demonstrates woodcarving and discusses Alaska Native heritage throughout the evening.
Movie schedule
- 4 and 6 p.m.: Molly and the Great One (51 minutes, 40 seconds; TV-Y), in which Molly helps Grandpa Nat pursue his dream of climbing Denali in honor of Alaska Native mountaineer Walter Harper.
- 5 and 7 p.m.: Wise Raven & Old Crow (50 minutes, 25 seconds; TV-Y), following a family river journey to a traditional Gwich’in village.
Regular museum admission, current exhibitions, the Family Activity Room and First Friday activities are free from 4–8 p.m. Entry to the separate Molly of Denali experience costs an additional $5–$10 and can be purchased at the door.
