Families can pedal across Edgewood Lake in free boats provided with Independence Seaport Museum. Kid-friendly binoculars will be available for spotting turtles, ducks, flowers, and birds, including the great blue heron that inspired the boats’ design.

Children must weigh at least 30 pounds so they can fit a life jacket, and an adult must sign for every minor. Waivers are completed before boating and may be submitted through the reminder form in advance. Signing up provides weather updates but does not reserve a boat; lines are common and may close early when the projected wait exceeds 30 minutes.

Boats work best with at least two riders and hold no more than four. There is no storage area, so bring only a small bag or waterproof case. Heavy wind or bad weather may lead to rescheduling or cancellation, with advance notice sent to people who RSVP.
