Artist Mark Kendall’s multimedia project examines the bald eagle as both a living species and a national symbol. The work centers on a self-taught taxidermist who creates eagle-like specimens from parts of other birds, opening questions about wildlife law, mythology, museum display and how American identity is assembled from many influences.

From 6–6:30 p.m., visitors can view bald-eagle visual-culture materials in Science Live. The main program from 6:30–8 p.m. includes remarks by author and curator Giovanni Aloi, an excerpt from Kendall’s 2026 video work and a conversation with historian Katherine McLeod, Academy ornithologist Jason Weckstein and senior curator Marina McDougall. The sophisticated subject matter is most suitable for older children and adults.
