What to expect
Orlando Philharmonic musicians join Kalindá for a lively celebration of Puerto Rican music and culture featuring Bomba percussion, dance, and Puerto Rican arrangements designed to get the audience moving. The performance takes place indoors after an outdoor gathering with Latin-inspired food trucks, vendors, and a bar.
Kalindá is an Afro-Puerto Rican Bomba ensemble led by artistic director Barbara Liz Cepeda, a seventh-generation member of Puerto Rico’s Cepeda musical family. The group works through Escuela de Bomba y Plena Tata Cepeda to teach Afro-Puerto Rican history and sustain Bomba, Puerto Rico’s oldest musical and dance tradition. Families can learn more about Kalindá and its cultural work.
