Historian Rachel Williams uses two bird's-eye maps—one from 1884 and another from 1890—to trace Orlando's formative years. The presentation connects the town's 1875 incorporation and its transition to city status in 1885 with the people and places that helped shape present-day Orlando.

Williams is the History Center's staff historian and holds bachelor's and master's degrees in history and public history from the University of Central Florida. Her work includes editing the museum's Reflections from Central Florida magazine and assisting members of the public with historical research.

Guests may attend in person or online; closed captions are available for the online presentation. Admission is available with or without lunch. Lunch orders must be placed by 9 a.m. on Thursday, August 6. Questions may be directed to 407-836-8580.
