Here/Hier: Finding Home Through Art & Movement with Maria Theresa Barbist

Florida Prize artist Maria Theresa Barbist leads an interactive exploration of identity, belonging, and the idea of the body as a compass. Her large-scale paintings in the museum's Florida Prize 2026 exhibition provide the starting point.

Participants use guided drawing, movement, and reflective writing to tell personal stories and consider “home” as both a physical place and an emotional experience. The program welcomes adults, teens, and anyone interested in contemporary art, creative movement, and hands-on artmaking; no previous art experience is needed.
