Public historian and former Monticello guide Dr. Kyle Chattleton examines three strands of the mountaintop estate’s history: Thomas Jefferson’s public ideals, the resilience and pursuit of liberty by enslaved families such as the Fossetts, and the Levy family’s preservation of Monticello and defense of religious freedom.
A social hour with a cash bar and snacks runs from 5–6:30PM; the presentation begins at 6:30PM. Registration is required and may also be arranged by calling 402-444-5071 or emailing reservations@DurhamMuseum.org.
