An evening of gallery exploration, live Afrofusion, orchestral strings, visual art, and DJs brings Omaha Symphony musicians together with Dreamland Productions and Joslyn Art Museum. The program adapts the “trap symphony” format, pairing an orchestra with R&B, neo-soul, hip-hop, trap, Afrobeats, and other contemporary styles.
Schedule
- Gallery exploration and art experiences run from 4–6 p.m.
- The featured Issa Trap performance runs from 6:30–8 p.m.
- A DJ mixer with a cash bar, community gathering, and conversation follows from 8–9:30 p.m.
Four featured Afrofusion artists perform with an Omaha Symphony string ensemble: Kevin Paradise blends Afrobeats, hip-hop, and pop; Kusher Snazzy combines traditional African rhythms with modern production; AJII incorporates Yoruba and Pidgin English into contemporary Afrobeats storytelling; and Joe.EZ draws from Afrobeat, rap, reggaeton, and dancehall. The wider lineup also includes Ray Bae the DJ, DJ Afrobaddie, Jevon Woods, visual artist Menice “Mars” Blackman, and Big Wade & Black Swan Theory, whose sound spans soul, funk, jazz, R&B, and rock.
