New Victory Dance is a summer mini-festival introducing kids to acclaimed New York City dance companies. Teaching Artists host the performance, and the program ends with a choreographer talk-back and an opportunity for audience members to try movement from their seats.

Program B

  • Ballet Hispánico presents BH2: An excerpt from Una Kaya (The Journey) combines ballet, contemporary dance, and African and Dunham techniques to explore perseverance, personal growth and the courage to take up space.
  • Trisha Brown Dance Company: Rogues is a duet set to an original Alvin Curran score. It examines rhythm, timing and the ways people transmit movement through simple gestures and everyday actions.
  • Umami Playground Dance Inc.: An excerpt from Playground blends street and contemporary dance while encouraging people to release judgment and rediscover play. This piece uses flashing lights.

Free pre-show activities open in the lower lobby 45 minutes before curtain. Families can explore different dance styles, choreograph an everyday routine, design a costume and write a note honoring an inspiring teacher or mentor. The performance runs 75 minutes, including transitions and the talk-back.

Accessibility and family amenities

The theater publishes Sensory Awareness Notes and lends fidgets, ear defenders, assistive-listening devices, wheelchairs and other supports from its downstairs Accessibility Table. A quiet Cozy Zone with a live feed is available throughout the show. Wheelchair and companion seating, stroller parking, booster seats, changing tables and complimentary lockers are also available.
