This is one of the separately published days in a weeklong museum art camp for children ages 5–12. The session is sold out. Campers explore art spanning 5,000 years through the permanent collection, special exhibitions, and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden, then work across media such as drawing, painting, movement, and sculpture. Enrollment is limited to 25 campers for the week.
A typical camp day
- Drop-off begins at 8:45 a.m. at the Art Studio, reached through the courtyard beside the museum shop.
- Campers receive about 2.5 hours of daily studio time, combining guided projects with independent creative work.
- Looking, drawing, and movement activities take place in the museum and sculpture garden, with possible visits to other City Park sites.
- Pick-up is at 3 p.m. in the Art Studio.
Children should arrive with sunscreen already applied and bring a water bottle, snack, lunch, and an extra layer. The week concludes with campers sharing and celebrating their work together.
Limited need-based financial assistance is normally available on a sliding scale through the museum’s education staff. The published cancellation policy provides a full refund at least 14 days before camp, a 50% refund 8–13 days beforehand, and no refund within seven days; every refund carries a $15 administrative fee.
