Children and adults can play drums and join an interactive dance circle while learning about New Orleans cultural history and Congo Square's legacy. The program is open to every age and requires no previous drumming or dance experience.

Leader Jamilah Yejide Peters-Muhammad—known as Mama Jamilah—is a lifelong New Orleanian and Dillard University graduate who has taught African dance and culture for more than 40 years. She co-founded the Congo Square Preservation Society, Kumbuka African Drum and Dance collective, and Bamboula 2000, and participates in Black Masking culture with the Guardians of the Flame Maroon Society.

No reservation is required. Seating is limited and first come, first served.
