This free public lecture explores how clothing can express faith, love, identity, and tradition at major moments in life. Michael E. Mamp, curator of the LSU Textile and Costume Museum, will draw from a collection of nearly 10,000 artifacts, highlighting objects such as christening gowns, a liturgical vestment, and wedding dresses.

Rich visuals and the histories behind individual garments will show how clothing has marked occasions from baptism and marriage through burial. The one-hour session is open to the public, and advance registration is not required.
